The panelists talk with DUI offenders regarding....

Our Victim Impact Panels take place in the East Tempe Justice Court on the second Monday of every month at 7:00pm. During the Impact Panel we speak with DUI offenders and/or anyone who is interested in learning about DUI and it's consequences whether they be emotional, physical, financial or legal.

Each panel consists of at least one victim of an impaired driving incident. The panelists talk with DUI offenders regarding their personal experience with DUI as a victim. It gives the DUI offenders and others an opportunity to hear what a victim goes through when an incident occurs. We often invite an officer who works with the DUI squad to come and tell about their side of the story. They give incite into what it is like to be the officer on the scene of a DUI related crash as well as what charges are filed and what the officer goes through when they have to notify a family of the death of a loved one. At times we also ask DUI offenders themselves to come speak regarding what they had to go through in their lives because of their incident.

At the closing of our panel the judge from the court also speaks regarding the legal side of DUI. He gives incite to what the fines are and what happens on the legal end of the spectrum. We are not there to belittle anyone for their mistakes but to educate the public on the dangers of driving impaired. The cost to come to an impact panel is $30.00 and is part of the fine for the DUI offender. All of this money is used to help law enforcement officials in their efforts to keep impaired drivers off of our roadways.
