Officer Targosz, age 37 was struck by an impaired driver in the area of the intersection of Apache Blvd and Price Rd in Tempe around 6:25pm on Saturday 29th, 2006. Rob died in the early morning hours of April 30th as a result of the injuries he received in the collision.

The suspect ran through the intersection and struck Rob's motorcycle and then jumped out of his vehicle and fled home on foot where he was later apprehended by the Tempe Police Department.

Officer Targosz was a 12 year verteran of the Gilbert Police Department. He has been assigned to the DUI Motor Team since its inception in August 2004. He was a motor officer for five years. Rob participated in the East Valley DUI Task Force nearly every year for the last 12 years and he participated full time for the last five years.
 
Officer Rob Targosz was named Uniformed Officer of the Year 2002.  Rob was a big supporter of the Archangel Foundation and we will miss him very much!
